1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Ephesians 4:14  “That we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;”

Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

John 4:23-24 “But the hour comes and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”

1 John 2:18-20 “Little children, it is the last time. And just as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have risen up, from which we know that it is the last hour.  (19)  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they were of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out so that it might be revealed that they were not all of us.  (20)  But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.”

  • Demons

1 Timothy 4:1-2 “Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”

  • People

Mark 13:21-22 “And then if anyone shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ! Or, lo, there! Do not believe him.  (22)  For false Christ’s and false prophets will arise and will give miraculous signs and wonders in order to seduce, if possible, even the elect.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Methods:

2 Corinthians 11:3-4 “But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, so your thoughts should be corrupted from the simplicity due to Christ.  (4)  For if, indeed, the one coming proclaims another Jesus, whom we have not proclaimed, or if you receive another spirit, which you did not receive, or another gospel, which you never accepted, you might well endure these.”

  • Slight (means Gambling), Cunning Craftiness (means Trickery), and Provocation.

Ephesians 4:14-15 “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:”

Tactics:

  • They will seduce, and then tell lies.

1 Timothy 4:1-2  “But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,  (2)  through the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;”

  • They will show “Signs” and “Wonders.”

Mark 13:22-23 “For there will arise false Christ’s and false prophets, and will show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.  (23)  But you watch. “Behold, I have told you all things beforehand.”

  • They will speak “Fables” & give you what you want.

2 Timothy 4:3-4  “For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts;  (4)  and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn away to fables.”

  • They make up their own way and replace the Commandments of God.

Matthew 15:7-9 “Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,  (8)  “This people draws near to Me with their mouth, and honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.  (9)  But in vain they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”

  • They appear to be righteous, to disarm and entice you with your lust.

2 Timothy 3:1-7 “But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come.  (2)  For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  (3)  without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good,  (4)  traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;  (5)  holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also.  (6)  For some of these are people who creep into houses, and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,  (7)  always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 “For such ones are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.  (14)  Did not even Satan marvelously transform himself into an angel of light?  (15)  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.”

The Bible says: Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

The Bible says: 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

The Bible says: Ephesians 1:9 “Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:”

Mark 4:10-12  “When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.  (11)  He said to them, “To you is given the mystery of God’s Kingdom, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,  (12)  that ‘seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.’”

The Bible says: 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

The Bible says: John 15:18-21 “If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”

The Bible says: 1 Corinthians 12:12-26 “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.”

The Bible says: Acts 17:10-11 “And the brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. They, when they arrived, went into the synagogue of the Jews.  (11)  And these were more noble than those of Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind and searched the Scriptures daily to see if those things were so.”

Step 1: Convince you that truth is only relative. Your truth, my truth, etc.

Step 2: If truth is really relative, how then can there be any standard, really?

Step 3: If there are no standards, then how can there really be sin? Let alone the Ten Commandments, that supposedly tell us what sin is? Because, like we already discussed, truth is just relative. My truth tells me that I don’t need your truth to be right with God.

Step 4: If there is no sin and no Ten Commandments, then how could there really be any lies, it’s just all variations of everyone’s personal truth.

Step 5: At this point I have snared you. I can tell you anything, and you can’t tell me “it’s not true, it is a lie.” Through my reasoning, I have slowly, methodically disarmed you from any recourse.

2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, so your thoughts should be corrupted from the simplicity due to Christ.”

  • Satan Deceives Eve.

Genesis 3:1-5 “Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?”  (2)  The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden,  (3)  but not the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it. You shall not touch it, lest you die.’”  (4)  The serpent said to the woman, “You won’t really die,  (5)  for God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

  • Satan Still Deceives God’s Children.

Galatians 1:6-12 “I marvel that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different “good news”;  (7)  and there isn’t another “good news.” Only there are some who trouble you, and want to pervert the Good News of Christ.  (8)  But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any “good news” other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed.  (9)  As we have said before, so I now say again: if any man preaches to you any “good news” other than that which you received, let him be cursed.  (10)  For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ.  (11)  But I make known to you, brothers, concerning the Good News which was preached by me, that it is not according to man.  (12)  For neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.”

  • Our Opening Verse Gives Us Great Insight.

John 4:23-24 “But the hour comes and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

1 John 4:6 “We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”

1 Timothy 4:13-16 “Until I come, attend to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.  (14)  Do not neglect the gift in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the body of elders.  (15)  Meditate on these things; be in these things in order that your improvement may appear to all.  (16)  Hold on to yourself and to the doctrine; continue in them, for doing this you shall both save yourself and those who hear you.”

Titus 1:9 “Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.”

John 14:26 “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.”

Romans 16:17-18 “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”

2 John 1:7-11 “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresses, and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abides in the  doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that bids him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”

2 Thessalonians 3:6-7+13-15 “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;  +  But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.”

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

Ezekiel 22:23-31 “Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,  (24)  “Son of man, tell her, ‘You are a land that is not cleansed, nor rained on in the day of indignation.’  (25)  There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it.  (26)  Her priests have done violence to my law, and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they caused men to discern between the unclean and the clean, and have hidden their eyes from my Sabbaths. So I am profaned among them.  (27)  Her princes within it are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.  (28)  Her prophets have plastered for them with whitewash, seeing false visions, and divining lies to them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh,’ when Yahweh has not spoken.  (29)  The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery. Yes, they have troubled the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully.  (30)  “I sought for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.  (31)  Therefore I have poured out my indignation on them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have brought their own way on their heads,” says the Lord Yahweh.”

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11
