To insist on the preeminence of the Jews over the rest of the nations, actively and forcefully undermines the restorative work of Jesus Christ. The “One New Man” created by our Savior cannot be split in two in an attempt to prop up long held doctrinal positions. To do so will in affect make one become Anti-Christ, a worker against the way of the Lord. To recreate a division no longer held in heaven or before the throne of YHWH, is to trample the blood of Jesus Christ and return again to the position of the Old Covenant that could never be saved.

Recap From Last Week:

There is no difference between Jews or Gentiles- they are one in the same now. While the Jew has, if you will, the privilege of the first born son, having received the promise first to walk in the path of Jesus. Then it was delivered unto the Gentile to do the same, but once the journey is made, the one new man is formed and neither have preeminence over the other. As there is no longer any difference between Jew or Gentile. To reject Jesus is to reject God (YHWH). There is no hope of salvation without Jesus.

God Prophesied “Replacement Theology”

God foretold the change of His acceptance of a single people group as the chosen people, replacing this arrangement with the new arrangement. Having done away with the “Old” Covenant, He instituted the “New” Covenant- replacing that which could never save, into the Covenant that can save all people who accept His Son Jesus the Christ.

God Prophesied the Change:

“Of the Rock who became your father, you are unmindful, and have forgotten God who gave you birth. Yahweh saw and abhorred, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters. He said, “I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end will be; for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness. They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God. They have provoked me to anger with their vanities. (#1)  I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. For a fire is kindled in my anger, that burns to the lowest Sheol, devours the earth with its increase, and sets the foundations of the mountains on fire. (#2) “I will heap evils on them. I will spend my arrows on them. They shall be wasted with hunger, and devoured with burning heat and bitter destruction. I will send the teeth of animals on them, with the venom of vipers that glide in the dust. Outside the sword will bereave, and in the rooms, terror; on both young man and virgin, the nursing infant with the gray-haired man. I said that I would scatter them afar. I would make their memory to cease from among men; were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries should judge wrongly, lest they should say, ‘Our hand is exalted, Yahweh has not done all this.’” For they are a nation void of counsel. There is no understanding in them.”  (Deuteronomy 32:18-28)

Restated in the New Testament as being completed in the Gentiles:

(#1) But I say, didn’t they hear? Yes, most certainly, “Their sound went out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” But I ask, didn’t Israel know? First Moses says, “I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation. I will make you angry with a nation void of understanding.” Isaiah is very bold, and says, “I was found by those who didn’t seek me. I was revealed to those who didn’t ask for me.” But as to Israel he says, “All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” (Romans 10:18-21)

Restated by Jesus as a forth coming punishment to Israel:

*Note: This was fulfilled by Titus in A.D. 70 who becomes Roman Emperor in A.D. 79-81. The event is commemorated in “The Arch Of Titus” in the city of Rome, and it still stands today. Please note of all the artifacts taken, the Ark of the Covenant is not depicted.

(#2) “When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out the things that are in his house. Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are with child and to nursing mothers in those days! Pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath, for then there will be great oppression, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be. Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.” (Matthew 24:15-22) [ALSO GO WITH (*B) Below]

John the Baptist Declares The Change:

The tree of Israel will be pruned (And Now Has Been!)

“But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance! Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. (*A) “Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. (*B) His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.” (Matthew 3:7-12)

Jesus Confirms The Prophecy of John:

Then Jesus used this illustration: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on the tree but didn’t find any. He said to the gardener, ‘For the last three years I’ve come to look for figs on this fig tree but haven’t found any. (*A)  Cut it down! Why should it use up good soil?’ “The gardener replied, ‘Sir, let it stand for one more year. I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. Maybe next year it’ll have figs. (*A) But if not, then cut it down.” (Luke 13:6-9)

How Far Did God Cut The Tree? (All The Way To The Root):

“For I speak to you who are Gentiles. Since then as I am an apostle to Gentiles, I glorify my ministry; if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh, and may save some of them. For if the rejection of them is the reconciling of the world, what would their acceptance be, but life from the dead? If the first fruit is holy, so is the lump. (*A) If the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them, and became partaker with them of the root and of the richness of the olive tree;” (Romans 11:13-17)

One of the elders said to me, “Don’t weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the (*A) Root of David, has overcome; he who opens the book and its seven seals.” (Revelation 5:5)

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify these things to you for the assemblies. (*A) I am the root and the offspring of David; the Bright and Morning Star.” (Revelation 22:16)

*This tells us that everything past the throne of David was cut off, cast out and separated from the common wealth of Israel. We are not talking about the faithful Jews that came afterwards, but we are talking about the history and kingdoms. It is forgotten and thrown to outer darkness. The throne of Jesus replaces all of it. What is implied is that instead of the lineage going from David to Solomon, it has been replaced with David to Jesus. ~Let’s a quick look below:

God’s Prophetic Promise To David:

*Please note that this had a dual meaning- One for the time of Solomon, then one for the complete fulfillment in Jesus. One being the physical, and the other the spiritual fulfillment.

“It will happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your offspring after you, (AA) who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. (BB) He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before you; but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever. His throne will be established forever.”  (1 Chronicles 17:11-14)

  • Jesus Fulfills This Promise:

“Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn (AA) with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul wasn’t left in Hades, and his flesh didn’t see decay. This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear. For David didn’t ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’ “Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” (Acts 2:29-36)

  • We Are The House and The Temple:

“If indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious: coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious. (BB) You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, and precious: He who believes in him will not be disappointed.” (1 Peter 2:3-6)

The Prophetic Parables

The Parable of the Tenants:

*Before we start, let’s point out a couple things in this parable-

  1. The “Master of the House” is God.
  2. The “Vineyard” Is Israel.
  3. The “Lease Holders, Farmers” are the Jews.
  4. The “Servants” sent are the prophets.
  5. The “Son” is Jesus (Foretelling His Death.)
  6. The “Lord of the Vineyard” is Jesus (Foretelling His 2nd coming.)
  7. The “Stone” is Jesus- all Unbelievers are crushed by it (Jew Or Gentile.)

“Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household, who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a wine press in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country. When the season for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the farmers, to receive his fruit. The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another. Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they treated them the same way. But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and seize his inheritance.’ So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?” They told him, “He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruit in its season.” Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?’ “Therefore I tell you, God’s Kingdom will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation producing its fruit. He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.” When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them. When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.” (Matthew 21:33-46)

The Parable of The Wedding Feast:

*Before we start, let’s point out a couple things in this parable-

  1. The “King” is God.
  2. The “Marriage Feast” is the marriage supper of the Lamb (Jesus) (Revelations 19:9)
  3. The “Son” is Jesus.
  4. The “Servant” are the Prophets.
  5. Those who were invited” are the Jews.
  6. The his armies” are Angels and People who’ve done his will.
  7. “As many as they found/ guests” are all people, nations, and multitudes – Gentiles.
  8. “Wedding clothes” is righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ.
  9. The “few chosen” are those who have faith in Jesus and keep the commandments. (Revelation 14:12)

“Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come. Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise, and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them. When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy. Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’ Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests. But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing, and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’ For many are called, but few chosen.” (Matthew 22:1-14)

The Parable of the Two Sons:

*Before we start, let’s point out a couple things in this parable-

  1. The “Man” is God.
  2. The “First Son” is the Gentiles.
  3. The “Second Son” is the Jews.
  4. Remember that the “Gentiles” came first and the Jews were called out from amongst the people of the earth. Being called from the sons of Noah- Shem. Not Ham and Japheth, who make up the Gentile nations.

“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’ He answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind, and went. He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I’ m going, sir,’ but he didn’t go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into God’s Kingdom before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn’t even repent afterward, that you might believe him.”  (Matthew 21:28-32)

The Faith Of A Gentile Centurion:

“When he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him, and saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented.” Jesus said to him, (*1) “I will come and heal him.” The centurion answered, “Lord, I’m not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and tell another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and tell my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, “Most certainly I tell you, I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel. I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven, but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed.” His servant was healed in that hour.” (Matthew 8:5-13)

You Are Of Your Father- The Devil!

“They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this. You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.” Therefore Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me. Why don’t you understand my speech? Because you can’t hear my word. You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, you don’t believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don’t hear, because you are not of God.” (John 8:39-47)

*Even before Jesus said to them, you are of your father the devil. Who then was answering their prayers? SATAN was! He gave them their desires, what they wanted, and there lust for a temple. Yet, he held them in captivity. They wanted the building more than the one that was supposed to be in it. This is why Jesus was rejected by them. Now the fullness of God walked before them, not hidden behind the veil. “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”  (Colossians 2:9) And they rejected Him. This is why Jesus calls Himself the temple. “Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” (John 2:19) God was not in the building, He was in His son.

THE GREAT SMACK DOWN!

*Please take note of the sarcastic, back handed, and straightforward assault upon the character and position of the Jewish leaders. There is little wonder why they wanted to kill Him after this.

“The greatest among you will be your servant.  (12)  And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.  (13)  “But WOE to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You keep locking people out of the kingdom of heaven! For you neither enter nor permit those trying to enter to go in.  (15)  “WOE to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You cross land and sea to make one convert, and when you get one, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves!  (16)  “WOE to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple is bound by nothing. But whoever swears by the gold of the temple is bound by the oath.’  (17)  Blind fools! Which is greater, the gold or the temple that makes the gold sacred?  (18)  And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar is bound by nothing. But if anyone swears by the gift on it he is bound by the oath.’  (19)  You are blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred?  (20)  So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.  (21)  And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and the one who dwells in it.  (22)  And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and the one who sits on it.  (23)  “WOE to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You give a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, yet you neglect what is more important in the law – justice, mercy, and faithfulness! You should have done these things without neglecting the others.  (24)  Blind guides! You strain out a gnat yet swallow a camel!  (25)  “WOE to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.  (26)  Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside may become clean too!  (27)  “WOE to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs that look beautiful on the outside but inside are full of the bones of the dead and of everything unclean.  (28)  In the same way, on the outside you look righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.  (29)  “WOE to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.  (30)  And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’  (31)  By saying this you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets.  (32)  Fill up then the measure of your ancestors!  (33)  You snakes, you offspring of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?  (34)  “For this reason I am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,  (35)  so that on you will come all the righteous bloodshed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.  (36)  I tell you the truth; this generation will be held responsible for all these things!

*Quick note on verse 36: Trying to help us understand the emotion in this moment, let me paraphrase what’s being conveyed- Jesus knows they are about to kill Him. Yet, He’s like “Listen up, you want to kill me, but you are about to be slaughtered in the power of God. Woe! Blind, deaf, and dumb, you could have escaped. But now there will be a massacre in Israel for you failed to repent.” We see this in Ezekiel 9 and also in the prophecy of Jesus in Matthew 24:14-28.

Jesus’ Tone Changes As He Cries Over Israel:

(37)  “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!  (38)  Look, your house is left to you desolate!  (39) For I tell you, you will not see me from now until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’” (Matthew 23:11-39)

*Jesus declares in verse 38, “God has left you alone!”

Yes, God Prophesied “Replacement Theology” and God Executed “Replacement Theology”. All things have been replaced which we will cover in our next study.

 ~Conclusion:

Jesus came to restore what was lost in the garden. When man was one with God, there was no division; there were no competing religions- just relationship between man and creator.  As the people of the earth spread across the land, the Jews were God’s chosen people from the human race.  This happened a great many years after the fall of man. This needed to be done to bring forth the Messiah upon the earth, and it has done just that. Like Paul in Romans 3:2, declares that the Oracles of God were given to the Jews and this held them basically in high regard before the throne of YHWH. Yet, they refused to open the gates wide and spread God’s way with the surrounding nations. God did not choose the Jews to keep Himself hidden upon the earth. No. He chose the Jews to spread and share the true understanding of His way, so all might come to know and serve Him. So they could become the Children of God.  To say the Jews are once again far above and beyond the rest of humanity and will be first among people, a different class, or better than the rest of humanity, undermines the one new man in Messiah. That idea seeks to destroy the restoration to the pre-fall relationship found in the Garden of Eden. This belief wants to create a new wall between God and the rest of humanity. Jesus did not come to restore the Jews to a position separate of the nations. No. Jesus came to make one new nation of believers. As Paul says in Romans 10:12-13, “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. For, whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” So, what we have is Jesus accomplishing what the Jewish nation refused to do, to bring the love and truth of God to the world. Calling home all the chosen people of God predestined for salvation!
