1 Timothy 2:13-15 “For Adam was first formed, then Eve.  (14)  Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;  (15)  but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and sanctification with sobriety.”

1 Timothy 2:13-15 NET “For Adam was formed first and then Eve.  (14)  And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, because she was fully deceived, fell into transgression.  (15)  But she will be delivered through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control.”

1 Timothy 2:13-15 YLT  “for Adam was first formed, then Eve,  (14)  and Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, into transgression came,  (15)  and she shall be saved through the child-bearing, if they remain in faith, and love, and sanctification, with sobriety.”

1 Timothy 2:13-15 “For Adam was first formed, then Eve.  (14)  Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman (Eve), being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;  (15)  but she (Eve) will be saved through her childbearing, if they (Woman) continue in faith, love, and sanctification with sobriety.

Genesis 3:15-16 “I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”  (16)  To the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. In pain you will bear children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

Revelation 13:8 “And all dwelling on the earth will worship it, those whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain, from the foundation of the world.”

1 Peter 1:18-21  “Knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers,  (19)  but with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish or spot, the blood of Christ;  (20)  who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in this last age for your sake,  (21)  who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.”

Genesis 3:15-16 “I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring”

Revelation 12:9 “The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”

John 8:44 “You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.”

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 “For since death came by man, the resurrection of the dead also came by man.  (22)  For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.”

1 Corinthians 15:45-49 “So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.  (46)  However that which is spiritual isn’t first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual.  (47)  The first man is of the earth, made of dust. The second man is the Lord from heaven.  (48)  As is the one made of dust, such are those who are also made of dust; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.  (49)  As we have borne the image of those made of dust, let’s also bear the image of the heavenly.”

Genesis 3:15-16I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”  (16)  To the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. In pain you will bear children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

  1. Was this “BIRTH” pain just physical, or prophetic and emotional? Meaning, was God telling Eve that these children she will bear would bring pain to her heart? What about the heart of the mother of the Messiah?
  2. Was the division of the offspring just Spiritual, or was it Physical and more immediate concerning her own condition?

We can start by looking at the dictates of God to Adam and Eve.

Genesis 1:28a “God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it.”

Adam and Eve were commanded to have children as we discussed in our last study. This was part of her calling, the reason for her creation.

Genesis 3:20 “The man called his wife Eve because she would be the mother of all the living.”

Genesis 3:16 “To the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. In pain you will bear children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

Genesis 3:16 YLT “Unto the woman He said, ‘Multiplying I multiply thy sorrow and thy conception, in sorrow dost thou bear children, and toward thy husband is thy desire, and he doth rule over thee.’”

  1. She Will Be Given Sorrow In General.
  2. When She Conceives She Will Have Sorrow.
  3. And Sorrow In The Bearing Of The Children That She “Dost Bear”.

Genesis 3:16 LITV “He said to the woman, I will greatly increase your sorrow and your conception; you shall bear sons in sorrow, and your desire shall be toward your husband; and he shall rule over you.”

  1. She will be given Sorrow in general. (Knowing her rebellion has allowed death and suffering spread to all living creation)
  2. When She Conceives She Will Have Sorrow. (Knowing that one day her children will die.)
  3. And Sorrow In The Bearing Of The Children That She “Dost Bear” (What I believe the knowledge that her current pregnancy will be affected and that they too will die for her sin.)

Genesis 4:1-2 “The man knew Eve his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man with Yahweh’s help.”  (2)  Again she gave birth, to Cain’s brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.”

Genesis 4:1-2 LITV “And the man knew his wife Eve. And she conceived and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man with the help of Jehovah.  (2)  And she continued to bear his brother, Abel. And Abel became a shepherd of flocks. And Cain became a tiller of the ground.”

Genesis 3:16 YLT “in sorrow dost thou bear children”

Genesis 3:16 LITV “you shall bear sons in sorrow,”

Yet, the greatest proof is yet to be shown. Let’s cover that now:

Genesis 5:3 “Adam lived one hundred thirty years, and became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.”

Genesis 1:28a “God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it.”

While Adam and Eve are the originators of all living still.

Genesis 3:20 “The man called his wife Eve because she would be the mother of all the living.”

Genesis 4:13-16 “Cain said to Yahweh, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.  (14)  Behold, you have driven me out today from the surface of the ground. I will be hidden from your face, and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth. Whoever finds me will kill me.”  (15)  Yahweh said to him, “Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” Yahweh appointed a sign for Cain, so that anyone finding him would not strike him.  (16)  Cain left Yahweh’s presence, and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.”

Genesis 4:17 “Cain knew his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Enoch. He built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.”

Romans 8:19-22 “For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.  (20)  For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope  (21)  that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.  (22)  For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.”

Romans 5:14 “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those whose sins weren’t like Adam’s disobedience, who is a foreshadowing of him who was to come.”

Genesis 3:15-16 “I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”

1 John 3:11-12 “For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;  (12)  unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s righteous.”

Hebrews 11:4  “By faith, Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had testimony given to him that he was righteous, God testifying with respect to his gifts; and through it he, being dead, still speaks.”
