Power Of The Called
Often, we overlook and forget the High standing and position we have before God. Sometimes we might even go ahead and sin thinking, “What’s the big deal? It just affects me!” If we fail to understand how much is hinging upon our response to temptation and walking in our calling, then the devil has already defeated us. The individual who is fully convinced of the Power and Position they have before a Holy and Righteous God is the greatest threat to the forces of darkness. This person will not lightly turn their back on God and His promises, or to indulge their sin nature. No, too much is riding on what they decide.

Power-Of-The-CalledTHE KEY
“Therefore since we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the JOY that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)
- Remember the testimony that has come before you.
- Repent and throw off your sins.
- Get to work and serve your Lord & God.
- Remember Jesus for how to accomplish this goal.
- Use the JOY that is to come as motivation.
- Look past and forget the suffering you must endure.
- Receive the promise of your faith in Christ Jesus.
Who We Are In Christ
We are called Children of God.
“But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name: who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13)
We share His divine nature.
“by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.” (2 Peter 1:4)
Christ came to destroy the works of the devil.
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
As Jesus was sent by God, Jesus sends us. To destroy the works of the Devil.
“Jesus therefore said to them again, “Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” (John 20:21)
Jesus rendered Satan powerless, as we are to do also.
“Since then the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise partook of the same; that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death (that is, the Devil), and deliver those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” (Hebrews 2:14-15)
We are partakers of Jesus’ heavenly calling.
“Therefore, holy brothers, called to be partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus,” (Hebrews 3:1)
Jesus Our Example
Satan hates Jesus, and he hates us also.
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” (John 15:18-19)
Christ is our life, and we will appear with Him.
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Be mindful of things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God. When Christ our Life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.” (Colossians 3:1-4)
As Jesus was in the world, we are to be the same.
“In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so also we are in this world.” (1 John 4:17)
God gave Jesus all power and leadership.
“and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us, the ones believing according to the working of His mighty strength which He worked in Christ in raising Him from the dead, and He seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies, far above all principality and authority and power and dominion, and every name being named, not only in this world, but also in the coming age. And He has put all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church,” (Ephesians 1:19-22)
Jesus made the demonic forces a laughing stock.
“Having stripped rulers and authorities, He made a show of them publicly, triumphing over them in it.” (Colossians 2:15)
We are now strengthened with all power.
“For this cause we also, since the day we heard, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you might walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in every work and increasing in the knowledge of God, being empowered with all power, according to the might of His glory, to all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness,” (Colossians 1:9-11)
We Are Given Christ’s Authority
All authority was given to Jesus.
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth. Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
We have a legal right to ask/command in the Name of Jesus.
“And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, Whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give you. Before now you have asked nothing in My name; ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:23-24)
We are joint heirs with Christ; we receive our portion of His birthright.
“And if we are children, then we are heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; so that if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified together.” (Romans 8:17)
According to His power Jesus has given us all things.
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, according as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue,” (2 Peter 1:2-3)
We are blessed with all spiritual blessings.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ; according as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,” (Ephesians 1:3-5)
Part 1 Recap:
The Mission Is The Commission
The great commission was a direct command of Jesus to His followers- NOT a suggestion!
- All power has been given to Jesus!
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18)
- So He has the authority to direct us to go do what He did!
“Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19)
- Then He says “I, Jesus, the power source, will always be with you.”
“teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20)
IN CLOSING:
We are quickly coming to a time when the faithful will have to deal with sorrow and suffering in ways we have not known. We must prepare our hearts with these verses:
“I have spoken these things to you so that you might have peace in Me. In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
“He who loves his life shall lose it. And he who hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there also My servant shall be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.” (John 12:25-26)
“And therefore you now have sorrow. But I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.” (John 16:22)

GOD – Jesus – Holy Spirit – You & The World
Are you a defeated, lifeless, spirit-drained zombie? Have you listened so long to the siren song that you have fallen asleep? Or, have you awaken and are willing to walk in the power of God? Do you love your sin and rebellion more than you love God? Or, will you sacrifice your very life to please the “Creator God,” the “Maker King,” and the “Warrior Christ”?
~ Will You Rise To Your Calling Or Drown In Your Sin? ~
“And although you were dead in your offenses and sins, in which you formerly lived according to this world’s present path, according to the ruler of the domain of the air, the ruler of the spirit that is now energizing the sons of disobedience, among whom all of us also formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest… But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even though we were dead in offenses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you are saved! – and he raised us up together with him and seated us together with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his creative work, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we can do them.” (Ephesians 2:1-10)
Children Of God:
~YWHW- The Only GOD
“And he said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath; who keeps covenant and loving kindness with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart;” (1Kings 8:23)
“Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness. He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.” (Micah 7:18-20)
“Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you. Be merciful to me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul. For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you. Hear, Yahweh, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions. In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me. There is no one like you among the gods, Lord, nor any deeds like your deeds. All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord. They shall glorify your name. For you are great, and do wondrous things. You are God alone. Teach me your way, Yahweh. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole heart. I will glorify your name forever more. For your loving kindness is great toward me. You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.” (Psalms 86:2-13)
“God Has Hidden Your Sin In Jesus- So God No Longer Sees You As You Were, But As A Little Jesus.”
“For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.” (Colossians 3:3-4)
“You Are The Children Of God.”
“See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called God’s children – and indeed we are! For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know him. Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever it is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is.” (1 John 3:1-2)
“Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ. For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before him in love. He did this by predestining us to adoption as his legal heirs through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will – to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.” (Ephesians 1:3-6)
“For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:8-10)
“We are no longer slaves, but sons, and if sons, heirs of God through Christ”
And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son, then you are also an heir through God.” (Galatians 4:6-7)
“You Are A Citizen In God’s Kingdom.”
“Giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love; in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins;” (Colossians 1:12-14)
“We Are Heirs To The Kingdom Of God.”
“Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?” (James 2:5)
“All Things Belong To You.”
“Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours, and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” (1 Corinthians 3:21-23)
~JESUS~ Statement of Authority:
“All Power Is Given To Jesus From God Almighty.”
“Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Matthew 28:18)
“All Principalities, Powers, Might, And Dominion, With Every Name That Is Named Is Placed Under The Feet Of Jesus.”
“This power he exercised in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And God put all things under Christ’s feet, and gave him to the church as head over all things. Now the church is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.” (Ephesians 1:20-23)
“The Great Exchange From Jesus To The Holy Spirit”
“You are very sad from hearing all of this. But I tell you that I am going to do what is best for you. That is why I am going away. The Holy Spirit cannot come to help you until I leave. But after I am gone, I will send the Spirit to you. The Spirit will come and show the people of this world the truth about sin and God’s justice and the judgment. The Spirit will show them that they are wrong about sin, because they didn’t have faith in me. They are wrong about God’s justice, because I am going to the Father, and you won’t see me again. And they are wrong about the judgment, because God has already judged the ruler of this world. I have much more to say to you, but right now it would be more than you could understand. The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide you into the full truth. The Spirit doesn’t speak on his own. He will tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know what is going to happen. The Spirit will bring glory to me by taking my message and telling it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine. That is why I have said that the Spirit takes my message and tells it to you.” (John 16:6-15)
~Holy Spirit~
“The Holy Spirit Is Our Witness That We Are The Children Of God.”
“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children. And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ) – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.” (Romans 8:15-17)
“The Holy Spirit Dwells In Us And We Are The Temple Of God.”
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)
“Holy Spirit Requires Supremacy In The Temple Of God.”
“What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Therefore “‘Come out from among them, and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you. I will be to you a Father. You will be to me sons and daughters,’ says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children. And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ) – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.” (Romans 8:14-17)
~YOU~
“You Have Been Given Powerful Gifts- Use Them!”
“God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.” (1 Corinthians 12:28)
“Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different results, but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all. For one person is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, and another the message of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another performance of miracles, to another prophecy, and to another discernment of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. It is one and the same Spirit, distributing as he decides to each person, who produces all these things.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
“Those That Believe In Jesus Will Do The Same Works As He Did And Even Greater.”
“Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father. Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:10-14)
“We Have Been Given Authority From Christ Over Demons.”
“Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:19-20)
“Jesus Commands Us To Preach The Gospel, And That The Sign Of Casting Out Demons In His Name Will Follow Those That Believe.”
“He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the Good News to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages; they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:15-18)
~World~
“But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-21)
“In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.” Turning to the disciples, he said, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him.” (Luke 10:21-22)
