We live in what is called the “Screen Age.” We all have TV screens, phone screens, watch screens, computer screens, and movie screens. There is a screen in every direction all pushing “entertainment.” Interestingly enough, the entertainment industry seems to be the biggest arm of outreach for the schemes of the Devil. Even more impressive than that, is that those whom the devil wants to destroy off the face of the planet are actually funding these operations. Like the saying goes, “give the devil an inch, and he will become a ruler”. So, let’s cover this very important topic and learn how to guard against the entertainment conspiracy.

2 Peter 2:9-19  “The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unjust for a day of judgment, to be punished,  (10)  and especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise dominion. They are cursed children  (15)  who have forsaken the right way and have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,  (16)  but had reproof of his lawbreaking, a dumb ass speaking in a man’s voice, held back the madness of the prophet.  (17)  These are wells without water, clouds driven with a tempest, for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever.  (18)  For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they lure through the lusts of the flesh, by unbridled lust, the ones who were escaping from those who live in error;  (19)  promising them liberty, they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom anyone has been overcome, even to this one he has been enslaved.”

Having denied the power of Godliness, they now search for a replacement for a move of the Holy Spirit. Ever willing to accept anything that makes them feel anything at all.

The Devil doesn’t want the Body of Christ to know that your remote control and your dollars are some of the most powerful weapons you have at your disposable.  It can also be the noose around your own neck.

Question: If I offered my services to you and my business is the destruction of your family, but I guarantee that I can make it fun (at least for a little while). Would you pay for it?

Answer: Of course not!

But the same people who say “no” to that will purchase entertainment that is doing the very same thing.

• He Knows That TV Shows, Movies, Video Games, Sports, YouTube, Social Media, Etc. are Fertile Ground To Sow Seeds Of Sin And Rebellion.

Sports are no different! They are like modern versions of bread and circuses. It is not wrong to enjoy a game, yet people get so ate up with it. The majority of Christian brothers that are into sports (that I know of) spend more time thinking and digesting sports than they do God. They know more about a recent trade or stat than they do of pure doctrine. They wear their favorite teams clothing, hang flags at their house, put stickers on their cars, etc. When in reality what they are doing for a game is what they should be doing for their God. If we can get the Christian sports fans in America to shout and cheer for God the way they do their team, there would be an incredible revival in America.

Use Your Liberty Wisely

As Christians, we have liberty from God in this life. Not liberty to sin, but to enjoy the good things provided for us for our enjoyment and pleasure. Let’s read:

1 Timothy 6:17-19  “Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;  (18)  that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share;  (19)  laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.”

Though we must understand that the liberty given to us by God to enjoy the good things provided, should not be abused as an excuse to sin.

We do not have a license to sin and rebel against God. What we have is a mandate to Holiness before our God. We are called to manage our lives with the correct understanding of balancing holiness with Godly pleasures given to us to help bring joy in our lives.

Whatever makes it out the other side we can be assured is okay for consumption. Making sure that our entertainment is not a poisonous pill against Holiness.

Now, dare I say that “churchanity” is entertainment? Yes, I do!

Turn off your television; you don’t have to watch sin for entertainment. But, hey, when you go to some churches, it’s slightly better than television. You can feel like it’s a holy experience. While at the same time, they use the same tricks and techniques to entrap you into false doctrine. While the presentation is not necessary the problem, it’s the intent to deceive that is. Be on guard against the tricks of the devil. The masses have become susceptible to the tactics of entertainment and now they are being used in churches against the Body of Christ.

If we walk around with an indifferent attitude about right and wrong in entertainment, we do Holiness a great harm. By saying all things are equal and that there is neither wrong nor right, then there cannot be holiness. We destroy holiness by trying to level the playing field of morality. By retaining the safeguards placed by our Creator, we exalt holiness before our God and honor Him in our obedience. By calling evil- evil, and good- good, we secure for ourselves a safe haven of righteousness;  a defense against the schemes of the Devil and a harbor for joy unstained by sin. So, next time you sit down to be entertained, make sure you follow the guidelines above, and make sure you’re not taking a poisonous pill from the hands of Satan.
