Betrayed, Crushed, Denied, Mocked, Forsaken!
Betrayed : Jesus died like a Lamb, yet will return as a Lion. The unimaginable suffering that eventually took His life will not compare to the glory He will soon return with. Birthed into the world under the “Banner of Love & Sacrifice,” Jesus fulfilled His calling. Yet soon, very soon, He will return with the “Banner of Victory & Judgment.” We will first look at His suffering, and further exploring His life through two songs. Then, move on to His return in that day of terror and victory. Lastly, a short video exploring the proof of Jesus outside of the Bible.
Isaiah 53:3-7 “He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not. (4) Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (5) But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on Him; and with His stripes we ourselves are healed. (6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, each one to his own way; and Jehovah has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (7) He was oppressed, and He was afflicted; yet He opened not His mouth. He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before its shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.”
Jesus Wept: It’s easy to get this “super hero” mentality about Jesus. That He never had anything that wore Him down, or that tested His resolves. That He never got sore after a hard day’s work, or worked Himself silly into exhaustion. That He never had to make a choice that had no winning answer in life. That He never got ill. That all things came easy to Him, that He never had an “off” day (not to imply sin, yet that it just wasn’t as easy as it could have been.) It can be easy to see Jesus as detached and separated from the plight and suffering of what it is to be human, after the fall of Adam. Yet, this is not correct. Everything, in every way, Jesus has known the human experience.
The horrific suffering of Jesus Christ needs to be fully understood. Having created the entire universe, He willingly subjected Himself to lack, suffering, and persecution, often receiving pain for the love he showed to humanity. Being a man acquainted with many sorrows, Jesus remained faithful and obedient. Learning perfection through His suffering, He became the perfect sinless sacrifice. Leaving us an example of faithfulness through pain, discouragement, and many heartaches. In this study, we will cover the many sacrifices made by our Lord and Savior. I hope we will find that Jesus truly understands what it is like to be human. He can relate to all our struggles, hurts, and worries. We are not alone: You have a High Priest know what it is like to be human. Looking back at the life of Jesus and everything he experienced. We are going to highlight different aspects of His suffering, be it mental emotional and physical. Before we begin lets recap a Prophecy of Jesus life upon the earth.
Our study today is going to seem awkward to some. It might even seem inappropriate to others. We will be looking at another side of Jesus’ personality that many never dare to look at. Often, it is hidden by false teachers in churches and those who turn the Gospel of Jesus into a cheap prostitute. The heathenistic “Johns” flock to their spiritual pimps to get a warm fuzzy of an always gentle and loving Jesus. This is the “Baby jESUS Syndrome” that has infected the churches. Everyone loves sweet baby Jesus. But Jesus grew up and became the man of God, exacted judgment upon the forces of darkness, and will do so soon to all of humanity. Soon, very soon, He will double up both fists and beat to death all that offends our righteous and Holy God. He will cut to pieces all those covered in sin with the sword of His mouth, destroying everything not covered in His blood by the brightness of His righteousness. Repent, or die by the hands of the Savior of the world. Your time is short, so choose today!
